Gigantic FA Vase cup runner , Gary Flinn (who took the Swans to Wembley twice in the two previous seasons) was not able to do the same in the FA Trophy this Saturday. Leighton Town were knocked out of the first round of the competition 2-1 to South Park FC, based in Reigate.

Twice FA Vase finalists Newport Pagnell were knocked out of the cup by a 2-1 loss at Fakenham Town this Saturday. Just before half time, Dan Walker took the lead only to be immediately followed by a equaliser from Fakenham. Half way into the second half, Fakenham scored the winner. The Swans kept fighting with another close attempt on scoring coming again from Walker. However, by the closing stages of the match, Fakenham were home and dry and could afford to miss a last minute awarded penalty.

A low attended FA tie at Reading this Saturday, resulted in the Dons going down one nil in under five mins of the start of the match. Despite an equaliser, Reading dominated most of the second half going up 3-1, only to concede a second goal in the closing stage of the match.

Should Liam Manning be allowed to leave Oxford Utd to go to Bristol City?

Breaking news today that Liam Manning is to leave Oxford Utd to go to middle of the league, championship side, Bristol City. He takes with him his assistant manger from the club, Chris Hogg but should he be allowed to be so mercenary? Manning like Karl Robinson following a sacking from the MK Dons moved to then close to relegation side, Oxford Utd. Within 8 months, Manning has turned Oxford around to be placed in an automatic place making him a highly sought after manager. Some supporters feel Manning should not be allowed to so easily leave the club and that he should stay to complete the promotion race job. Managerial contracts should not allow a manger to exit so early from contract obligations by simply paying up early leaving fees. Manning is not without controversy. In his recent match with Wycombe, he was banned from for one match following excessive side line protests against the referee after he awarded two penalties to Wycombe forcing a 2-2 draw.
