Fourth from top Barton went to middle of the league placed Leighton Town with the hope of progressing further up the league today. After the disappointing departure of twice FA vase finalist Gary Flinn from the Leighon Town in September 2024. Flinn’s arrival at the club during the 23/24 season sent shivers through the spines of local non league supporters as to what footballing glory might develop. However with a winless season and Flinn’s departure in September 2024 , one wonders whether such high expectations can return under the new management of Paul Reed.

Certainly things looked promising for Leighton with them taking the lead one nil by the end of the first half. Six mins into the second, Leighton extended their lead to two nil with a fast attack on goal which Barton caught by surprise and quickly succumbed too. For most of the match it looked like a role play reversal with Leighton looking the top of the table side and Barton being mediocre. In the 67th min things changed when Barton managed to nearly get one back and it looked like game on after all. However Leighton continued to stamp their authority over their opponents going on to win the match reasonably convincingly 2-0. Maybe Reed can do for Leighton Town what they were expecting under Flinn after all?
